Why Support HEET

As a market leader, a local business owner, or a non-profit organization, you can create a cleaner, healthier, and smarter energy future for our communities.

When you support HEET, you easily and directly give to your community.

HEET provides real value and deep engagement. We’ve built our success by fostering community-focused efforts and hands-on collective action.

Helping Communities Save Energy and Money

HEET helps people make their buildings more energy efficient and get clean energy.

HEET has worked with thousands of citizens and hundreds of non-profits in Boston, Cambridge and Greater Boston area from community centers, preschools, food pantries, and houses of worship to residents and small businesses.

HEET’s work lowers energy bills to help organizations pay for vital services to urban, diverse communities instead of operating costs.

  • On an average, HEET’s work saves a non-profit $7,000 in the life of the installed upgrade.
  • In total, HEET has helped communities save more than $2.7 million in energy and water bills.

Advancing Energy Efficiency and Renewables to Create Smart Energy Future

HEET has organized more than 225 Energy-Upgrade Work-Parties and made more than 50 solar installations possible.

HEET uses services and rebates provided by both utilities and the State to help the greatest number of people in the smartest way. Our work reduces your organization’s impact on the planet and helps you be more sustainable, both economically and environmentally.

HEET’s effort has resulted in 10,411 metric tons of reduction in CO2 emissions.

That’s the same as:

  • taking 2,169 cars off the road for a year
  • or the carbon sequestered by 8,534 acres of forestland– approximately double the land area of the City of Cambridge.

Empowering Non-profits to Lead and Transform Mindsets

HEET teaches people how to reduce their own energy use, socially marketing that we all can and need to do this work together.

Non-profits have strong social networks in the urban, diverse communities that are hardest for utility energy-efficiency programs to reach. These local organizations can persuade neighbors and small businesses to access Mass-Save energy efficiency programs and earn more upgrades for their buildings through HEET’s rewards.

For example, HEET donates $50 to a non-profit’s energy efficiency fund for every home energy assessment performed in the homes of its community.

HEET is a tax-exempt non-profit organization

HEET is a tax-exempt non-profit organization under the section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. All charitable donations are deductible to the full extent allowed by law. We appreciate your generous support of HEET and our community-based programs!
