HEET has worked with more than 3,500 members of local communities. Over 70% of surveyed volunteers report, after attending an energy-upgrade work-party, they perform four or more of their newly mastered tasks on their own homes.

“On behalf of the Church of God Christian Life Center of Boston, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to you for taking time out of your busy schedule to come and help us with the weather insulation. The church is grateful that you showed concern and now we are able to save energy. Words cannot express our appreciation and for that we are grateful. Once again thank you!”

I think we really got a lot done, and feel motivated to really move forward on lots of other projects to tighten up our building and to promote energy savings that will allow us to better do our social justice and community building work. Feel free to come back and join us on a Sunday morning. And thanks to Audrey and Jason and the other team leaders from HEET for their guidance in this process.”

“Thank you does not seem enough for all that you and your crew did for our Church yesterday. It was an awesome event and our Church is certainly grateful for all the hard work that was done to help us make the Church more energy efficient and comfortable for our members. We are truly blessed by the help and knowledge of HEET. As you know with your help and that of Metabolix, this is not something our Church would have been able to afford on our current budget. Again thank you so much for your generous gift of materials and time.”

– Yvonne, Western Avenue Baptist Church, Cambridge

“On behalf of Haley House and HEET, please send our gratitude to all of the volunteers who gave of their time and energy on Sunday. We got a lot done. We did another test after the group left and we found that our savings were even more extensive than we originally found.  I may be crazy but I already feel that the building is tighter from the standpoint of heat. We hope to be able to collaborate again in the future on another volunteer day of some kind!

– Bing, Haley House, Dorchester

“Thank you only begins to say it for all the work you did at First Church in Cambridge on Saturday, January 29th.  The building is already feeling tighter and less drafty to regular users.  Let alone the cost and energy savings and the carbon cutting (wahoo!), it was great fun to be meeting up and working with such kind and caring people from all around the area.  A special thanks to Audrey for all her behind the scenes work and preparation.  Please know that you are all welcome to join us at anytime, whether for a Sunday service or some other time if you need space for events!  We look forward to continuing the relationships and to continuing the work of saving the planet!”

“What a delight to hear that St. James’s will receive another $300 assistance in our efforts to seal up our grand old church building from HEET!  We are honored!  We are in the midst of providing internal storm windows for our rose windows, a first step toward preventing the air leakage from our stained glass.  The $300 donation will help greatly with this effort!”

– Rev. Holly Lyman Antolini, St. James Church, Cambridge

“AMAZING JOB!!!! Thank you all for your hard work and enthusiasm at the Green Shelter event on Sunday. The Shelter was buzzing with more than 40  volunteers and in just a few hours we swapped out 50 light bulbs in 15 rooms, caulked all the windows and doors, fitted sinks with new aerators, and sealed over 140 feet of band joists that were a major source of heat loss. Whew! Everything each of us did on Sunday will have lasting impact for Transition House. AND the environmental benefits can multiply if everyone applies what they learned to their own homes and apartments.”

– Risa, Transition House, Cambridge

“Yes, it was a fantastic! To all the volunteers, please give our absolute heartfelt thanks.  It was so heartening to see so many people willing to give their time and expertise to help RoxPres.  The impact of the projects that were completed is wonderful. And the work party also generated an amazing sense of momentum: to sign folks up for energy audits, to continue the work here at the church, and to motivate people to do these projects in their own homes.  We’re ordering lots of these materials for a church fair in early October, so that it’s even easier for people to seal up their own windows and drafts before the winter.  Thank you for all you and the team leaders and the motivated volunteers did to make the event such a success!”

– Nancy, Roxbury Presbyterian Church, Roxbury

“I just wanted to thank you and your team for coming out today.  I felt like it was crazy getting everything together for today, but seeing you all work was completely worth it!    I am so excited to show off to the congregation what all you did.  You all were so great.  Please pass on my thanks to Forbes, Mika, and the guy who brought out the MIT students (can’t remember his name) and all the others.  What you all do is so amazing.  If there is anyway I can help with other projects let me know.  I am busy with my two jobs, but I would love to give back to HEAT for all they did.”

– Pastor Kaza, First Church of the Nazarene, Cambridge

“Wow!  What great work was accomplished on Saturday morning! Thank you to all the volunteers from CBC and HEET who cleaned, mortared, caulked, insulated and otherwise made improvements to our building. Thank you to the team leaders for your experience, enthusiasm and willingness to educate and share your knowledge with the volunteers. Thank you to Audrey for leading us step by step through the evaluation, establishing the tasks of the day, organizing materials and work crews and being the force behind getting it done. Well done!”
